How It Works for Australia-Based Applicants
NBI Renewal Canada has been processing NBI clearance applications since 2016. While we are based in Toronto, our service is fully remote — your NBI clearance is processed through NBI Manila, and the completed certificate is delivered to your Australian address via international courier (UPS or DHL).
The process is identical whether you are in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, or any other Australian city.
Renewal vs. First-Time
The process depends on whether your records are already on file with NBI Manila:
- Renewal — your last NBI clearance was issued in 2014 or later and your name and marital status haven’t changed. No Form No. 5 and no new fingerprints required — we renew using your existing record at NBI Manila.
- First-time application, or name/marital status change, or last clearance before 2014 — Form No. 5 and ink-and-roll fingerprints are required. We send you the form and instructions after you apply.
Renewal — Step-by-Step
- Submit your application online — Complete our secure application form with your details, a copy of your valid ID, and your previous NBI clearance.
- We handle everything with NBI Manila — We submit your renewal, track processing, and manage any issues that come up. NBI HIT resolution is available as an additional service.
- Receive your NBI clearance — Your completed certificate is shipped to your Australian address by DHL or UPS. Outbound courier is billed separately at cost.
First-Time / Form No. 5 — Step-by-Step
- Submit your application online — Complete our secure application form with your details and a copy of your valid ID.
- We send you the form — After you apply, we mail you NBI Form No. 5 (the “Blue Form”) with instructions.
- Get fingerprinted locally — Visit any provider near you that offers ink and roll fingerprints. Bring the form we sent — providers fingerprint on the form you supply.
- Mail the completed form back to us — Ship Form No. 5 to our Toronto office via Australia Post or a courier (DHL, FedEx). Inbound shipping is arranged and paid by you.
- We handle everything with NBI Manila — We submit your application, track processing, and manage any issues. NBI HIT resolution is available as an additional service.
- Receive your NBI clearance — Your completed certificate is shipped to your Australian address by DHL or UPS. Outbound courier is billed separately at cost.

Shipping — Two Separate Legs
If your application requires Form No. 5, your fingerprint card has to physically travel from Australia to our Toronto office, and the finished NBI clearance has to travel back. We bill each leg at cost so you only pay actual courier rates — never a markup.
Inbound — You → JCA Toronto
- If your application requires Form No. 5, you ship it back to our Toronto office via Australia Post or a courier (DHL, FedEx).
- You book and pay the courier directly. Renewals do not require an inbound shipment.
Outbound — JCA Toronto → You
- Once your NBI clearance is ready, we ship via DHL or UPS international.
- Outbound courier is billed at cost as a separate invoice once your clearance is ready to ship.
Delivery Time
- NBI processing in Manila: 15–20 Philippine business days for Regular, 5–10 Philippine business days for Express
- Inbound mail (first-time / Form No. 5 only): add courier transit time
- Outbound courier: add DHL/UPS international transit time to your Australian address
Why is shipping separate? We charge shipping at cost so you only pay actual courier rates. International rates vary by destination, weight, and service speed — quoting them as a flat add-on would either overcharge or lose money. The base service fee stays flat at AUD $149 / $379 and the courier invoice reflects the real cost on your specific shipment.
Common Reasons Filipinos in Australia Need NBI Clearance
- Australian visa & permanent residency applications — the Department of Home Affairs requires a police certificate from each country you have lived in for 12 months or more
- Australian citizenship applications — submitted as part of the character requirement
- Partner, parent and family-sponsored visas
- Employment, professional registration or licensing — roles that require an overseas police check
- Philippine property transactions — buying, selling, or transferring real estate in the Philippines
- Philippine legal proceedings — annulment, estate settlement, or other legal matters in the Philippines
- Dual citizenship applications — re-acquisition of Philippine citizenship under RA 9225
- Returning to the Philippines — some employers or agencies require a current NBI clearance
Where to Get Fingerprinted in Australia
If your application requires Form No. 5, you need ink-and-roll fingerprints on the form (the “Blue Form”). Ask specifically for ink-and-roll service on a card you provide — this is different from the digital scan used for an Australian national police check.
- Australian Federal Police (AFP) — the AFP offers a fingerprinting service for people who need fingerprints for a foreign or overseas police clearance. See afp.gov.au and search “fingerprinting”.
- State & Territory Police — NSW, Victoria, Queensland, WA, SA, Tasmania, ACT and NT police offer fingerprinting for a fee. Contact your state or territory police and ask for fingerprinting for a foreign police-check purpose.
- Accredited private & mobile fingerprinting services — search “ink and roll fingerprinting” in your city. Private and mobile fingerprinters operate in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and other cities, and many will travel to your home or office.
What to ask for: “I need ink-and-roll fingerprinting on a form I will provide. The form is NBI Form No. 5 — a single fingerprint card. This is ink-and-roll on paper, not a digital scan. I will bring the form.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get NBI clearance from Australia?
Yes. Our service is fully remote. You submit your application online and, if Form No. 5 is required, get fingerprinted at a local provider and mail the fingerprint card to our Toronto office. We handle everything with NBI Manila and courier the completed clearance to your Australian address.
Is this a fully remote service?
Yes. Renewals only require the online application — no fingerprinting, no mailing. First-time applicants additionally complete fingerprints locally and mail NBI Form No. 5 to our Toronto office. Either way, we handle everything with NBI Manila and courier the completed clearance directly to your Australian address.
How do I pay if I am in Australia?
After you submit your application, we’ll email you secure payment instructions in Australian dollars. There is no FX conversion shown on your side — the price is the price.
How long does the whole process take?
NBI processing in Manila takes 15–20 Philippine business days for Regular and 5–10 Philippine business days for Express. For first-time applicants, add the time to mail Form No. 5 in both directions. Outbound delivery to your Australian address by DHL or UPS adds international courier transit time once the clearance is ready.
Do I need NBI Form No. 5 if I’m renewing?
No. If your last NBI clearance was issued in 2014 or later and your name and marital status haven’t changed, we renew using your existing NBI record — no Form No. 5 and no new fingerprints are required. Form No. 5 is only needed for first-time applicants, name or marital status changes, or clearances issued before 2014.
Will my NBI clearance be accepted for Australian immigration?
The NBI clearance is the Philippine national police certificate — the document Australian authorities expect when a Philippine police certificate is required. Always confirm with the requesting authority whether the certificate needs to be authenticated or apostilled for your specific application.
Is your service legitimate?
Yes. NBI Renewal Canada is operated by 8655332 Canada Limited, a sister company of JCA Law Office Professional Corporation — a licensed Canadian law firm. We have processed over 10,000 NBI clearances since 2016 and maintain a 4.9/5 rating on Google with 226+ reviews.
